Ola acquires AI firm Pikup.ai to further enhance its deep tech skills
  • Startup Pikup.ai utilizes automated technologies like sensor fusion, computer vision, and Artificial Intelligence to offer AI-based solutions for businesses.
     
  • Ola is increasing company’s aim on utilizing deep technology and advanced analytics to create innovative mobility solutions for the country and the world.

Ola, an Indian transport company providing ride-hailing services to people reportedly announced the takeover of Pikup.ai, an Artificial Intelligence startup based in Bengaluru, for an amount that is not disclosed yet.

As a part of the agreement, Pikup.ai’s team would join Ola.

Ritwik Saikia and Inder Singh are the founders of Pikup.ai, the startup utilizes automated technologies like sensor fusion, computer vision, and Artificial Intelligence to serve AI-based solutions for businesses.

Ankit Bhati, Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of Ola stated that as the company progresses on its mission to create mobility for billions of people, it is investing in technologies that would mould mobility’s future in India, and eventually, in the world.

Bhati added that the company is thrilled to work with Pikup.ai team and looks forward to creating an innovative technology together that would help it in redefining mobility experience in the future.

Ola is increasing the company focus on utilizing deep technology and advanced analytics to create innovative mobility solutions for the country and the world.

Earlier, Ola had announced its intention to establish an Advanced Technology Center in San Francisco, USA with the aim of developing next-gen technologies in mobility such as autonomous, electric, and connected vehicles.

The company also stated that by having deep domain expertise in Ola through the acquihire, the company would also present innovations that continue to enhance safety and change customer experience

Co-founder of Pickup.ai, Inder Singh, stated that the company is looking forward to joining Ola on its aim to build mobility and is thrilled to build meaningful technology solutions which would have a greater impact on millions of lives each day.
