Intellect chooses IHH Healthcare to devise mental health programs

Intellect, a leading mental health platform located in Singapore, has reportedly announced a partnership with IHH Healthcare, which is Asia’s largest private healthcare group. The main objective of the partnership is to introduce and customize various digital mental health programs for patients, staff, and corporate clients.

IHH Healthcare, as the first strategic investor, has also made an investment in Intellect, without disclosing the amount. Other firms which have backed up Intellect for this partnership include Tiger Global, Insignia Ventures and Y Combinator. Intellect is known for its noteworthy contribution in the ambit of mental health, across markets including Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, and India.

Business Development Officer of IHH, Ashok Pandit, expressed excitement towards investing in Intellect. He further added that, through this partnership, it will be possible to reach a wider number of people who require support, care and treatment.

CEO and Founder of Intellect, Theodoric Chew, has stated that the company has been in discussion with IHH over the last year, due to its strong leadership position in the market. The collaboration will help in giving out specialized as well as preventative care in many regions covered by the companies. According to Chew, the firms would be expanding primarily in the APAC regions, and eventually others, too.

The facilities offered by Intellect are telehealth coaching, therapy, and mental health screening, among others, which can be done physically at a clinic or online. The firm also has a consumer application but prefers to focus more on organizations that provide this platform for its employees to use as a wellness benefit.

As part of the collaboration, a pilot program has been launched by IHH Healthcare and Intellect for maternity patients in the Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore. The firms are also planning to extend the services to corporate clients of IHH Singapore’s iXchange as well as employees from IHH.

For the record, Intellect serves in 20 countries and has more than 3 million beneficiaries.
