Samsung Electronics introduces its first Human-centric LED components
Samsung Electronics has introduced its first human-centric LED packages, under the name LM302N. It is believed that the LM302N family tends to help human bodies maintain melatonin levels indoors, thereby making them feel relaxed and exuberant based on their daily life patterns.
Un Soo Kim, senior Vice President of LED Business Team at Samsung Electronics, says that the upsides of using LM302N goes a step further and enhances the non-visual biological effects of lighting on people. Elaborating on the launch, he notes their LED solutions are bringing in a new dimension of a human-oriented approach using AI to boost relaxation and output and auguring well for modern-day indoor lifestyles.
Melatonin tends to respond to the cyan wavelength range of light. Brighter cyan-concentrated lighting is believed to confine the production of melatonin and boosts concentration, thereby enabling an increased sense of alertness. Meanwhile, lower cyan light intensity reduces disturbances and boosts quality of sleep.
It is perceived that the LM302N innately uses the designed light spectra with increased amount of cyan to keep up with the lighting demand to the extent warranted. While LM302N NITE improves relaxation, LM302N DAY enhances alertness. Apparently, these offerings which are standardized at 3.0×3.0mm can be ideal for a range of lighting fixtures and are shielded against heat and humidity.
Allegedly, the LM302N DAY can restrict the melatonin level of the body 18% below conventional LED lighting. The DAY package, widely available in a range of color temperatures from 3000K to 6500K can be used in a wide range of indoor applications including offices, industrial sites, libraries, schools to foster a sense of energy level and awareness.
The LM302N NITE is available in color temperatures spanning from 1800K to 4000K, offering design flexibility to bring forth the upsides of relaxing light to a range of lighting spaces.
