Go-Jek, the Indonesia-based ride-hailing startup has reportedly acquired AirCTO, an artificial intelligence-powered recruitment company based in Bengaluru, for an undisclosed amount.

According to familiar sources, with the help of this acquisition, Go-Jek aims to open its second engineering and product development center in Gurgaon.

Apparently, as part of the agreement, the AirCTO team would be joining Go-Jek immediately and will be looking at building products that speed up recruitment for Go-Jek. The company has also unveiled its plans for opening a new office in Gurgaon, for which Go-Jek is planning to recruit 100 employees and would aim to touch a headcount of 500 in India by the end of 2019.

Sources informed that other development plans will include several acquisitions in India, with Go-Jek keenly exploring the start-up space, more specifically entities with expertise in design, engineering, and product management.

Supposedly, Go-Jek is operating one of the largest Clojure, Java, Go and JRuby clusters in Asia. Its strong tech-infrastructure is managed and built by more than 350 engineers, who manage operations across Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Thailand.

The Indonesian company, for the record, offers on-demand ordering of food, digital payments, grocery delivery, last-mile commuting, hyper-local delivery, and numerous services on its super app. The app was first introduced in January 2015 for customers in Indonesia. Currently, Go-Jek runs in 204 cities and regions in other five Southeast Asian countries.

The biggest India-based product team of Go-Jek and the food delivery service of the company, GO-FOOD, will establish its product divisions in the Gurgaon office. In Southeast Asia, it claims to be the biggest food delivery app with more than 400,000 merchants registered on the platform. Out of this, about 85% are small micro-entrepreneurs that rely strongly on GO-FOOD for revenue.

In 2018, the company had secured an annualized gross transaction value of US$9 billion, mainly from transactions in Southeast Asia.
