Ammann rolls out new ADS technology to analyze jobsite compaction data

By Mateen Dalal

Swiss mechanical engineering company Ammann has reportedly introduced a new ADS (Ammann Documentation System) technology. This new technology is geared towards capturing and further analyzing jobsite compaction data, which can lead to improved quality control and efficiency.

For the record, the ADS technology can record data measured by the proprietary ACEpro or ACEforce intelligent compaction systems of Ammann. It also can track machine passes as well as compaction progress with the use of GPS positioning.

Every individual roller pass can reveal the achieved temperature, material stiffness (kB value), effective amplitude and frequency, and roller speed. In addition, it can display the date, place, and time of compaction with an accuracy of over 50 cm.

Moreover, the optional system, designed for documentation to meet the international requests for CCC (continuous compaction control), is made available on asphalt and soil compactors equipped with ACEpro and ACEforce. It is also compatible with iOS and Android mobile devices. Additionally, the machine control display records the data, without the need for an external device.

All the recorded data can be exported through individual report templates in PDF or CSV files to ensure further analysis. Jobsite data can also be displayed on a map and reviewed on mobile devices or laptops at any location, while the information can be accessed through an app. Project details, weather conditions, amplitude, roller speed, and range of kB values are among the stored data.

Notably, the optional ACEforce system has advanced functions to ensure seamless and safe machine operation and compaction guidance. The system also can recognize whether the machine is experiencing any double jump and immediately inform the operators of corrective measures to prevent its damage.

On the other hand, ACEpro is an automated regulation and measurement system that can control and automatically adjust frequency and amplitude on asphalt and soil compactors of Ammann.
